My usual front end is IBOConsole. Never knew there were others – IBAccess, Knoda (KDE only), ibWebAdmin and Flamerobin. Thanks to this article here – Firebird Database Configuration in debian.

IBOConsole is cool for the everyday DBA job, the Empty table button is quite remarkable.
However, for database design I use SQL Hammer, just bought by Devrace ( http://www.devrace.com/en/sqlhammer/ ).
It really deserves a try!
