Firebird 2.1.3 uploaded to #debian #unstable #sid
Firebird 2.1.3 package is uploaded to Debian Unstable (Sid) and here is the list of package changes
* fix repack.sh invocation in watch file
* make executable
* New upstream release
+ drop patches released upstream
– cvs_CVE-2009-2620_DOS.patch was deleted (fixed upstream in 2.1.3)
– cvs_autogen.sh-autoreconf.patch
* refresh all patches to apply cleanly
* no longer regster QuickStart.pdf with doc-base; it was dropped upstream
* -classic.postinst: remove stray stop rc.d symlinks
What is interesting is to see the import diff vs the 2.1.2 package
Firebird 2.1.2 Changes in Ubuntu Karmic and Debian
New packages for Ubuntu karmic and debian unstable are released with security and bug fixes
Here is the change log for the firebird2.1 (2.1.2.18118-0.ds1-4) package in Ubuntu Karmic and Debian Unstable and Testing :
* add patch from upstream CVS fixing denial of service (daemon crash)
via a malformed op_connect_request message (CVE-2009-2620)

Firebird 2.1.2 in debian unstable , ubuntu packages soon
Here is the package for Firebird 2.1.2 in debian unstable I have installed it this way (the small install bug is already fixed in git)
sudo apt-get install firebird2.1-super
dpkg-reconfigure firebird2.1-super
Flamerobin 0.9.2 Accepted in Debian
Firebird2.1 moved from Debian experimental to sid (unstable)
Today i have installed Debian Lenny in an kqemu/kvm virtual machine (managed by virt-manager under ubuntu jaunty )
firebird by default there is 2.0.4 so i wanted the latest firebird2.1 stable from debian so i just dist upgraded the lenny to sid
by replacing all lenny words from /etc/apt/sources.list with sid then i did from console
an apt-get update && apt-get dist-upgrade after that i have now access to firebird2.1 just released for sid
then in terminal apt-get install firebird2.1-super and after that dpkg-reconfigure firebird2.1-super
Firebirdsql.org main website is back
The main firebirdsql.org website was down , the server had an power supply failure , and now seems that Sean changed the server too

Firebird 2.1.2 on Mips 64
Phillippe Makowski tested Firebird 2.1.2 and flamerobin on Mips64 , seems that qmtest ran all OK , So i guess it can be stamped as an good port
Firebird 2.0.5 is added to Debian Experimental
So now if you use debian unstable and experimental this way Now you can test and use firebird 2.0.5 packages
We missed the Lenny release party but who knows maybe we release 2.5 until the next Debian release

firebird 2.0.x on debian etch (current stable distro)
Here is an guide for installing firebird 2.0.3 on debian stable (etch )
it is recommended to use lenny where firebird package is more up to date or to use the latest firebird 2.0.5 release
