Puppy Linux LAN with FireBird 2.0 database – project of the day

This is an ambitious project for sure. I have a small office LAN that I really want to convert from Windows to Linux and am seeking any and all advice. The network consists of a database server with 6 clients connected through a Linksys hub. I managed to install the FireBird 2.0 database running as root (!) and run a local SQL query against it so I know the db server is possible on Puppy 2.10. I have a million questions but I’ll just ask a few for now ….
