#Perl DBD::Firebird driver : Fork in progress for DBD::InterBase driver
Seems there are a lot of bugs and patches accumulating in the DBD::InterBase driver and the community already forked the code on github with many patches and fixes applied to the main code
I will create a renamed driver with the name DBD::Firebird in cpan from the above fork and i will apply all the patches and fix the bugs that were not fixed
Kudos to the brave people daring to go in the deep forest! 🙂
I wonder if there is any chance of dropping the restriction of distribution that makes the software not suitable for Debian:
it cannot be placed on a CD-ROM or similar media
for commercial distribution without the prior
approval of the author.

I think is a mistake
licence copy pasted from other dbd modules and for example in oracle is fixed

Also the Main README is under Perl artistic license and gpl and the cdrom portion is deleted
I will try to contact the authors but i’m positive it can be changed
The main README really doesn’t mention any additional restrictions, but every source file does. And there are two copyright holders that need to agree to remove them. *sigh*
I wonder if it would be easier to start a new driver using IBPP…
That would be great! I tried to contact the original author some years ago but never got a reply.
