Survey for the 3º Firebird Developers Day

FireBase has put online a survey to check user preferences for the next edition of the Firebird Developers Day conference, due in Brazil later this year. FDD has become the biggest Firebird event (regarding number of participants) with the last edition holding 600+ people.

It is a conference done mostly in portuguese language, so if you speak portuguese and plan to participate, you can answer the survey here.

ODBC driver 2.0 beta, build 125 released

Vladimir Tsvigun has released build 125 of the Firebird ODBC driver. The change log of enhancements and bug fixes versus the previous builds is available at the Praktik website.

Fyracle in the press

Fyracle, the oracle-mode Firebird distribution, is getting some attention in the press around Europe. It is in the January 2006 issue of “Linux Programming” in Germany and France, and in the December 2005 issue of Software Developers Journal (not available online yet).

It was presented at Firebird Conference 2005 .

Keep up to date using your cell phone

Ok, for you guys living in USA, Yahoo is testing a new alert service that is able to retrieve news from RSS feeds and send them direct to your cell phone using SMS. As you probably now, we have RSS in this site (check the sidebar) and so you can use Yahoo Alert service to monitor firebirdnews.org and send you SMS message when something new is posted! Very cool! You can register in Yahoo Mobile using this link.

Gardner: SAS leads BI market

Business Objects, Cognos, Information Builders Inc., and SAS Institute are setting the standards in BI, according to Gartner's "Magic Quadrant for Business Intelligence Platforms, 1Q06." The report cites SAS as having the most comprehensive BI platform in the industry. SAS, of course, is a Firebird user.
