SQLObject 0.8.1 and 0.7.4 released

SQLObject is an object-relational mapper for python. Your database tables are described as classes, and rows are instances of those classes. SQLObject is meant to be easy to use and quick to get started with.

SQLObject supports a number of backends: MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQLite, and Firebird. It also has newly added support for Sybase, MSSQL and MaxDB (also known as SAPDB).

Return value from Firebird.createTable() was fixed in this release. For complete list of changes, please see the news.

FireRuby Project Status

Peter Wood wrote on RubyForge

Its been a while since I’ve visited the FireRuby project and in that time Firebird 2.0 has been released and I see that a number of bugs and requests have been posted.
Unfortunately I don’t currently have the time to update and test the code for the new release or address the issues raised and I feel it only fair that I say this on the site.

I found a bug in my library – blog/post of the day

He is using Firebird and c++ for an application , You can read his story (about killing an bug)

I am so happy, I must write somewhere this, after more then a month of complains from a customer I finally solved the problem. He was complaining that my application is getting slower and slower as he uses it. If he exits and start it again it was fast. This was not easily noticeable on faster machines, but on his Pentium 1 was really slow.

50% discount for Firebird Foundation members

I’ve just created a Home Inventory software that uses Firebird embedded. To show my appreciation to the project, and perhaps make Firebird Foundation membership more attractive, I decided to give 50% discount to Foundation members on this and all my future programs that use Firebird. Program’s page is at:

http://www.guacosoft.com/attic/

Best of all, you can take out the database backup and do whatever you want with it (it’s a regular Firebird 2.0 database).
