I’ve created this blog for one reason only. I just starting my first steps in database applications using .NET and I would like to share my experiences that I will face during my journey.
The major thing that affected my decision was the embedded database that gives you the ability to create standalone applications.
I read in the FB 2 release notes:
“In Firebird 2.0, use of the embedded server as a network client is no
longer possible.”
This Saturday the 4th Firebird Developer’s Day brought together about 600 Firebird users who attended 14 different sessions. Among the speakers were Holger Klemt, owner of H-K software (IBExpert), Nikolay Samofatov, CTO of Red Soft and Dmitri Kouzmenko, Director of IBase.ru and CEO of IBSurgeon.
Keeping with the tradition of having over 500 attendees Firebird Developer’s Day, in Brazil, continues to be the largest gathering of Firebird users in the world.
Version 0.3.9 of SQLAlchemy is released. This is probably not the last of the 0.3 series, but it’s the last major set of changes for this line; subsequent releases should probably be only for important bug fixes. 0.3.9 includes a lot of important bug fixes as usual, but also has a focus on the new API which is to be standardized in the upcoming 0.4 series, and is largely available in SQLAlchemy 0.3.9 so that existing applications can adapt to the new patterns. These changes represent improvements by leaps and bounds over anything SQLAlchemy has ever had, and a lot of them are available right now. The documentation has also been updated on the site with a large portion of these changes – so if you haven’t looked at SQLAlchemy’s documentation in a long time, now is the time to revisit; particularly the chapters on Database Engines, Database Metadata, and Data Mapping.
Tomorrow the 4th edition of Firebird Developers Day will happen in Brazil, with the presence of almost 600 people, and many international speakers. See all information about the conference at the official site: www.FirebirdDevelopersDay.com.br

Storm is an object-relational mapper (ORM) for Python developed at Canonical. The project has been in development for more than a year for use in Canonical projects such as [WWW] Launchpad, and has recently been released as an open-source product.
Who knows maybe an firebird port will be made for it
