New high volume Firebird based web site – CyberEars.com
August 3rd 2006
Tech Solutions Inc., in a joint venture with Alesis Corporation, announce
the new audio media and Podcast hosting website CyberEars.com built on the Firebird 1.5 SQL database
Alesis Corporation, famous for revolutionizing the home recording studio
industry with its ADAT products, amongst countless other products for the home recording market, are about to release a new product line aimed at home Podcasters. These products are called ‘The Alesis Podcasting Kits’. By simplifying the processing of creating high quality audio without sacrificing the power of a full mixing console, high quality microphone, software and headphones, Alesis have been able to bundle a system comprising hardware and software for those who want to record their own Podcasts at home for under $US 500.00. This product range is expected to be a blockbuster product for Alesis.
However creating an audio recording for anyone won’t work unless it can be released to the world. In May 2006, Alesis contacted Scottsdale, Arizona based software company, Tech Solutions Inc., to enter into a joint venture to develop a website that would make the process of releasing Podcasts to the world a simple one. The result of this partnership is the CyberEars.com website.
CyberEars.com is a simple way where any audio creator can upload their audio content and release it to the world. Audio can be released both on the CyberEars.com site for anyone to download or listen to online, or can be also released as a Podcast. CyberEars.com takes care of generating the RSS XML content, and provides a series of tools to audio creators to promote and manage their audio. By focusing on simplicity, CyberEars.com is designed for anyone with something to say to be able to broadcast it over the Internet without any technical understanding required.
Creator of CyberEars.com, Myles Wakeham, Director of Engineering at Tech Solutions Inc., said “I know what its like for those that want to create their own audio and release it. Having done my own Podcasts in the past, and with an extensive background in the professional audio industry, there has always been a large gap between high quality, professionally recorded content, and the home recording studio. Alesis made creating high quality recordings possible at a low price with the ADAT technology over 15 years ago and revolutionized the recording process. And we believe they are doing it again for Podcasters. But without a way to release and promote their content, the Podcaster will never get heard. We are proud to contribute to the evolution of the home recording enthusiast with CyberEars.com and look forward to long and successful partnership with Alesis Corporation in this venture”, stated Mr. Wakeham.
“CyberEars.com uses the latest in secure and rugged Internet technology and prides itself on being built on Firebird 1.5 SQL database on Linux. Through the power of open source technology such as Firebird, we have been able to deliver a solution for Alesis quickly and yet feel confident that CyberEars.com can withstand the huge volume of visitors that we anticipate along with the release of the Alesis Podcasting Kit. We are already seeing high volume traffic through our server farm, and know that Firebird is able to keep up with every transaction. The level of statistics that we gather on each listener’s preference and feed this information back to our customers on CyberEars.com requires a database of immense power and we were
only confident in the Firebird platform to meet this need.”, said Mr.
Wakeham.
CyberEars.com is due to go live on September 1st 2006, however it has been made available to the general public beforehand. A free trial subscription is available to all users and rates for audio hosting begin at the low price of $4.95 per month with unlimited bandwidth provided for even the smallest account option available.
The Alesis Podcasting Kits are expected to be available throughout most
consumer electronic stores worldwide in September 2006 also. They will also be available through music instrument shops worldwide.
