I think the subject is misleading, the original poster was migrating from Interbase to MySQL and the post you linked suggested to look at findings from an attempted Firebird to MySQL migration.
So no Interbase -> Firebird -> MySQL but Interbase -> MySQL similar to Firebird -> MySQL
and, yes, Firebird’s stored procs are much better than MySQL’s ones.
