SQLAlchemy 0.4.0 Released

I’m very happy to announce that we’ve put out 0.4.0 final. Thanks to all the contributors as well as all the beta testers who have helped us move through six beta releases, just to make sure we’ve got everything right (or as much right as we can). For those still working with 0.3, its time to upgrade ! 🙂 Lots of folks have already done it and it’s not so hard. I think this is the most well documented and easy to use SQLAlchemy yet, and its definitely the fastest by a wide margin…

Firebird PHP Generator SQL Maestro Group is happy to announce the release of Firebird PHP Generator 7.10, freeware Firebird GUI frontend that allows you to generate high-quality Firebird PHP scripts for the selected tables, views and queries for the further working with these objects through the web.

New version features:

  • BLOB fields now can be represented as pictures. It is also possible to add, edit, and delete the images directly from the generated web application.
  • Starting with this version our software allows you to create web-pages with hyperlinks.
  • Firebird PHP Generator now supports creation of look up menus based on a custom value list.
  • The wizard window becomes resizable. Also it can be maximized or minimized.

Multiple Buffer Overflow problem

If you read the post about the Multiple Buffer Overflow Vulnerabilities, I think you would be interested in this post from Svein Erling Tysvaer, in Firebird Support list:

Looking at http://risesecurity.org/blog/entry/3/ indicates that some of the issues affects Firebird, but that they’ve been corrected in the latest release:

We contacted both Borland/CodeGear and Firebird developers about these vulnerabilities. After failed attempts to find an email address to report security issues in their products, we tried their bug tracking systems. Borland/CodeGear asked us to send information to their support email address, but we didn’t get any further responses. Firebird developers didn’t answer to our reports either, but they corrected these vulnerabilities in the latest version of Firebird.

Seems like Firebird still prioritise fixing errors to a greater extent han InterBase.
