What is the current status of kinterbasdb?

As you may know, the KInterbasDB project is without maintainer, and
because Firebird project depends on it (for QA and other things), we
have to do something to ensure it’s bright future. I have considered the
option to take over this project, but at the end we decided to fork it
under Firebird Project for next reasons:

Damaged 2.1 RC2 kits on SourceForge replaced

Several 2.1 RC2 kits were damaged on upload to SourceForge. All affected
ones were replaced, but before they’ll get updated on all mirrors,
please make sure that you use the osdn primary server.

Here are direct links to new fixed kits:

Firebird remote BOF POC

Firebird Remove Buffer Overflow Proof of concept was posted on BugTraq

The bug is the one fixed in the next stable releases and is not present in firebird 2.1 rc1& rc2 here is the description:

Integer overflow in Firebird SQL 1.0.3 and earlier, 1.5.x before 1.5.6, 2.0.x before 2.0.4, and 2.1.x before 2.1.0 RC1 might allow remote attackers to execute arbitrary code

Firebird 2.1 Release Candidate 2 Ready

The Firebird Project team is happy to announce that download kits for the second (and hopefully, last) V.2.1 release candidate are now available for Windows, Linux and MacOSX Intel 32-bit and 64-bit platforms. You are invited to test it with as much rigour and vigor as you like and report your experiences (good or bad) back to the firebird-devel or the firebird-test list.
As always, please be patient if the files you want haven’t made it out to the mirrors at your first attempt.
