MySQL, InterBase, FireBird, SQL Server: Prices and Licences
A different moral? FireBird needs some marketing to let people know… it is the only really open source DB.

It’s very unclear to me how the GPL licence of MySQL applies to projects using it.
I mean, it certainly applies to software embedding it (but MySQL is not a player in the embedded market) and linking to the mysql client library (Php benefits from a FLOSS exception in this regard), I’m unshure if a closed source project that stores it’s data in a GPL or community MySQL server is bound to the GPL licence through.
