It’s very unclear to me how the GPL licence of MySQL applies to projects using it.
I mean, it certainly applies to software embedding it (but MySQL is not a player in the embedded market) and linking to the mysql client library (Php benefits from a FLOSS exception in this regard), I’m unshure if a closed source project that stores it’s data in a GPL or community MySQL server is bound to the GPL licence through.
